Services & Information
Systems in Use
We utilize Stits Polyfiber, Superflite, Ceconite, Ortatex, and Stewart Systems. If you’re unsure what your aircraft needs or already has, please contact us today to discuss. We’ve helped aircraft owners identify what is on their plane and helped others switch systems if we conclude another system may suit their needs better.
Projects Accepted
We are proud to be able to accept almost all general aviation projects- everything from entire aircraft recovering all the way to down to 1-inch paint touch up. Contact us today to get a free quote.
What You Walk (or Fly) Away With
We generally send all completed projects away with appropriate logbook entry(s) signed by our onsite A&P (or IA if needed) and a detailed progress log complete with photos.
Uncovering Underlying Issues
If properly taken care of, most fabric planes can go decades without being recovered. In that time span however, issues in the airframe can arise that are otherwise concealed by the fabric. It is not uncommon to find corrosion, rust, cracks, and other issues once the fabric is removed. This is not ideal, but it happens. Santa Barbara Fabric Works’ protocol when this happens is to pause work and contact the aircraft owner immediately to discuss options and next steps. We have A&P’s and IA’s on site that can assist and make necessary repairs for an additional charge. We can also help make referrals to local shops or specialists.
Hangar Calls/Traveling Fabric
Did you or someone you know start a project in your hangar only to find out it cannot finished but are also unable to send it anywhere? If so, you are not alone. Our staff has experience traveling to different locations to preform applications and finishing projects. While we cannot guarantee we can meet you where you are, we’ll meet you half way by discussing options. Contact us if you find yourself in the middle of logistical nightmare and see if we’d be able to help.
